Featured Artist: CharleyFox

Everyone needs a little more fun in their day, right? This week’s Featured Artist CharleyFox strives to create art that is the epitome of fun. In fact, she shares, “I just try to make my art look fun” and her brightly colored animals and video game-inspired designs are the perfect way to achieve that vision.

CharleyFox is a 27-year-old illustrator from the United Kingdom who loves a wide-range of hobbies from video games to feeding the robins near her home in Cornwall. However, drawing has always been her favorite pastime and she says, “I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember.” She recalls that she grew up sketching her favorite cartoons, like Looney Tunes, which helped her to “express the personality of the characters I draw now.” She jokes that her greatest struggle is “getting past the ugly stage” of her art and actually bringing her imagination to life on the page.

She reveals that her inspiration for art comes from animals and nature. Whether she’s feeding robins or is learning about the late Steve Irwin’s passion for wildlife, she loves animals and wants to express “a bit of personality or emotion” that people might otherwise overlook in them. In the future, she hopes to work on a creative project that “helps endangered animals in some way.”

Not only does CharleyFox love to draw nature, but as an avid DBH FanShop participant, she enjoys designing for brands like Rare, DC Comics, and Sea of Thieves. One of her goals was to design official merchandise for a video game and she is excited that she was able to do this through a DBH FanShop.
