I am often asked about the tees I wear and why I wear particular ones. I like many of the Collective tees here at Design By Humans but there are only a certain number I would actually wear. I made a list of the top 10 tees I personally like and the reasons they made my list. Feel free to post your own top 10 Collective Tees below.
I have always been a fan of this artist but this design really caught my eye. It reminds me of a character from an illustrated children’s books. That’s what pulled me in, the round colorful attraction of the tiger and then boom! He has an eye patch! He is a pirate or a villain or a mad man tiger assassin. Who knows? Point is it makes you think of a narrative to support the art. I am sold.
Technically these are two different designs but I am lumping them together. It is no secret that I love owls. I love these owls because they are so stylized they become almost symbolic. They remind me of cool logos or symbols because of their simplicity, but at the same time they have great detail. Awesome color choices and I wear either one based on my mood. The perfect owl T-shirts.
MrRocks has a very cool style and is well known for his stylized line art. He hasa cool depth to his drawing and a unique style that makes his work instantly recognizable to those in the know. This one kinda steps away from that. It is a slight departure of style and that’s why I love it. The naughty wolf you just have to love. I wear this tee a lot, because it makes me look instantly cool and badass.
Creepy. I like creepy. When I found Moutchy’s work and convinced him to submit to Design By Humans I knew he’d go on to make some epic tees. I wasn’t disappointed. He makes many great pieces of art with minimal color and I can really appreciate that level of skill. This tee isn’t mine yet but it’s on the top of my want list. Creepy and cool, it has some references I appreciate and I like scaring the kids in my neighborhood with my tees. Sold.
This pulls at the heartstrings of my youth. I was a big He-man fan and this is genius. Funny, weird and totally wrong but so, so good. I love how simple the art is and how it sums up an entire era of great cartoons in such a fun way.
Jublin is a good guy. I have met him and his art very much resembles his own fun sense of humor and cheekiness. This particular tee makes my list because I love the reference to old cartoons, horror posters and zombies. It has just enough dark to balance out the cute. Something I know is hard to pull off. Bravo Jubbers.
I have been a fan of MissMonster for many many moons. Her work ethic is incredible and her work (both 2D and 3D) is breath-takingly good. I love all that she does, but this design is one of my personal favorites. Her monsters and creatures stand alone in style and color. You want to know more about their background and delve into the story. One day MissMonster should make a movie.
Hydro is the kind of guy you do not want to meet in a dark alleyway in the wee hours of any morning. I am blessed to have him as a friend because frankly he can be pretty scary. Dark arts and bad attitudes tend to feature in his work a lot. So when he makes a tee with “cute” in the title, I want to wear it. All of his work is great and you should own at least one of his tees. “The Wisdom” is one of his other tees that I wear as much as humanly possible.
This is also at the top of my want list. This tee utilizes one color very nicely. I like skull tees, I wear a lot of them and this one has just enough detail to get my attention. I also love that it has the artists branding right in the center. Makes me feel kinda cool to openly support a fellow artist.
This is so wrong it has to be right. Mickey Mouse is poisoned and is melting like the guy in Robocop who gets run over! I love Mickey Mouse but the timing of this tee is apt. with the copyright on Mickey up soon he is literally going to go into melt down with everyone ripping him off. Long live Mickey Mouse and long live this parody tee that might makes some people cry. I’m mmmmmelting’¦’¦.
