Featured Artist: Perrinlefeuvre
Perrinlefeuvre’s designs are the epitome of a warm hug. Her detailed artwork — with intricate pencil lines and soft watercolor shading — can lift anyone’s spirit and will leave audiences laughing over a bumbling “Manabee” or admiring adorable foxes bundled up for the winter.
She currently lives in Cape Town, South Africa; however, she believes that home is “wherever my family can be their goofy selves.” Perrin comes from a long line of artists and believes that her family’s “influence in my work is apparent.” In fact, not only does her family support her passion for art, but they are also a very big part of her creative process. She considers herself very fortunate to be able to share a studio with her mother, sisters, and “three supercilious studio cats” in her home in South Africa.
Perrinlefeuvre loves imagining a world where she could “pick the brilliant brain of Salvador Dali whose genius was peerless and gratifyingly absurd” or study with the famous sculptor Claes Oldenburg. Although she is encouraged by unusual works like Dali’s and Oldenburg’s, she is nonetheless also inspired by simple pleasures like a “hearty appreciation for food” or the delightful quirks of the animals she draws.
She recently purchased a ceramic tiger pen holder and admits, “I'm a big fan of practical art objects and dual-purpose trinkets” and appreciates the small joys in life. Perrinlefeuvre is also a classically trained chef and considers cooking to be a “soothing therapy” that gives her time away to contemplate her work and life.
Her family is “loving in their honesty and generous with their sincere encouragement” and she feels lucky to be surrounded by such genuine supporters. She finds strength from her family and her religious focus and she hopes to be able to pursue her passion in the future and continue creating art for others to enjoy.
