Journey into the realm of the gods with the DBH artist Raidho as your guide! Raidho’s ornate designs draw from the world of Norse mythology and Celtic runes to weave a story of fallen heroes, ancient promises, and battles between good and evil.

Raidho – or Dmitry from the beautiful city of Vladimir in Russia – shares that the name “Raidho” originated from the rune that symbolizes “journey” or “the path.” He admits that he loved “the beauty of the line” from a young age; nonetheless, his unique artistic style of line art and Celtic runes only evolved after years of traveling for work. His ever-changing list of jobs – from a goldsmith to a professional painter of Orthodox churches in Russia and Ukraine – allowed him to develop a style that is distinctively “Raidho-esque” and draws from the cultural traditions he discovered.

Dmitry confesses, “I work very slowly, sometimes several months with one design” to get a piece of art perfect. His rich style can often be tiring or might even “dull” his senses; still, he recognizes that the outcome is worth the struggle and he pushes forward to complete the design. He cannot imagine a life without art and as long as he has “breath” in his body, he will continue to create. He believes that being an artist is almost a “medical diagnosis” because the desire to create is an addiction; a true artist cannot simply stop making art.

Raidho appreciates that he can share his designs with people all around the world through the DBH platform. He jokes, “it was just love at first sight” when he first found DBH in 2014. He enjoys that his work is easily shared with people and it makes his art immortal. He says having other people love his designs is like having a “medal that will hang on your wall even when you get old and weak.”
