MysticMoonVibes’ art holds the promise of a supernatural encounter in another world. The artwork – like Ostara the goddess of Spring or a mermaid sitting on the rocks – hint at whimsical themes; still, the decision to draw exclusively with black and white lends a seriousness to the otherwise lighthearted designs. MysticMoonVibes admits, “my designs end up with an edgy or mystic vibe to them” and they invite us into a magical world unlike any we’ve encountered before.

MysticMoonVibes, or Cathleen Burger, is a 28-year-old artist from Pretoria, South Africa. She shares that her interest in design came later in life and that, “when my little girl was younger, I enjoyed playing around with paint and drawings with her.” She soon found herself stealing quiet moments away to pursue her creative passion. She believes that “creativity is all around in everyday actions” and she works to translate that creativity into art that she can share with the world. Still, the greatest inspiration for her mythical “edgy” designs is the rock and metal music she loves.

As an artist who discovered her craft later in life, MysticMoonVibes can feel insecure about her designs. She confesses, “I often find myself wondering if my art is good enough and sometimes have to challenge myself just to share it.” However, she now recognizes that she must be gentle with herself and not “stare at the same piece for too long” or be too critical of her work. She admits, “I am pretty new to the art world and just overcoming my fear and sharing my art for the first time felt like a big accomplishment.” She encourages other artists to be proud of their accomplishments and to “enjoy the process and not just the end.”
