Featured Artist Update: Wehkid

Grab your snorkel because we’re taking a deep dive into the colorful imagination of this week’s Featured Artist Wehkid. The returning DBH artist’s world is filled with pearls of wisdom, imagination, and boba! Each design is a chance to be transported to a time filled with imaginary friends, hidden treasures, and exciting adventures. Go in search of a boba treasure today or enjoy frozen yogurt at the store run by adorable blueberries, because anything is possible with Wehkid’s artwork!

Wehkid, formally known by the comical pen name Pooper, is an illustrator and toymaker who enjoys keeping busy; she can’t help but “move a lot” whether it’s playing sports or just bouncing around with friends. Wehkid shares that since her last showcase on DBH she has been making her characters “more chibi-like” and 3D, in the hopes of being able to “produce little toys out of them.” She is also excited to showcase her “Chilling Strawberry” in a new project that allows her to bring the personality of this character to life in both toy art and illustration.

One of the most important ways she balances her work and personal life is by “recognizing that I am a human first before I am an artist.” She works to find the right balance and has incorporated different habits into her creative projects that allow her to find time to dedicate to friends and family as well. She follows the mantra “take it easy” and encourages other artists to follow this motto as well.

She continues to focus on a “world-building type of content inspired by foods, animals, or random concepts” and her fun visions are the chance to step back into the world of your childhood. Wehkid says, “I had my own world in my head ever since I can remember” and DBH is excited to catch a glimpse of this world through her artwork.
