Featured Artist: 83Oranges
83Oranges’ art is everything her name implies; her style is an invitation into the fresh, the tropical, and the vibrant. Uma Gokhale is “American born, Indian by origin” and now lives in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India where she opened her own design studio.
Uma knew she wanted to pursue art at a very young age. However, it was only after her experience teaching animation and working at several design studios that she was encouraged to pursue “one of the best decisions of my life” and start her own art company.

83Oranges admits that, “I live in the world of art” and that she can’t wait to get into the office on Monday mornings; everything around her, even “a banner on the street”, gets her thinking about design. Her art routine usually begins in her office, around 9:30 am, where she brainstorms ideas and sees where inspiration takes her. However, she confesses that she works half a day because her true focus is spending quality time with her “beautiful daughters”.
Her greatest inspiration, nature, is evident throughout her artwork and fills her artistic style with bright, joyful visions. She is also encouraged by her fellow artist, Isabelle Feliu, who shares a similarly bright and lively art style. Uma has learned that – above all— you must be true to yourself and “draw whatever you feel like and do not worry about whether or not that design will make money.”
