Featured Artist: Gloopz aka Elan Harris
London native Elan Harris aka gloopz best describes his artistic style as eclectic, fun and bold. “I like so many different styles and forms of art it's hard for me to settle on or develop one style. I tend to explore and experiment all the time.” Elan moved to New York 15 years ago and describes the city as a place of inspiration. “I get a lot of creative energy just walking around New York city, the old world architecture, gargoyles, museums, there's so much energy and a rich history of art and design it's infectious and very inspiring. I sometimes think that if I ever moved out of NYC I would lose my inspiration and creativity!“
Elan found his calling as an artist early in life. “At school a friend and I really got into graffiti and after a few well paid gigs at a very young age I realized I wanted to draw for a living.” Today he works both from home and onsite, “although I find that I am more productive onsite with others around me. I try to get most of my work done before 2pm, that's my most productive period. Breakfast and coffee are essential for my creative output.”
When asked about artists that he most admires, Elan tells us, “Banksy is an artist I really admire, his dark humor and social commentary is striking. Art should be something visually appealing but personally I like modern art to be an original idea, whether it is satirical, dark or thought provoking, something clever and original. I'm also a fan of Roy Lichtenstein's work and Ryan Churches Sci-fi concept paintings.”
