Featured Artist: BobyBerto
The DBH artist BobyBerto says that he has the uncanny ability to “draw what I want to see” and then translate his imagination into a reality. His diverse designs – whether a gold-capped mountain or a T-rex dancing around a Christmas tree – open a doorway into an imaginary world where even the unthinkable becomes a reality; the skies become filled with every color of the rainbow and origami creatures walk the Earth.
The 29-year-old artist is from the town of Kolonodale in the Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. He confesses, “I’m not the best artist” but that he draws simply because it makes him happy. He can find inspiration within his own imagination but he also gets direction for his creativity from comic books and the plethora of ideas on the internet. BobyBerto admits that he struggled with digital art but that he focused all his efforts on mastering the new medium and it has become his preferred method of drawing.
One of BobyBerto’s most prevailing mantras is the idea of the self-coined “infinity inspiration” or the philosophy that through art he can inspire someone who will, in turn, inspire someone else and the cycles continues to the infinite degree. BobyBerto recognizes the importance of art in his own life and he believes “art feeds me” as well as providing nourishment for others.
