AnnArtshock considers her designs to be a “tribute to nostalgia.” She captures moments in time that are inspired by the aesthetics of the 1980s and the 1990s. Her artwork buzzes with memories of the past and it gives a sense of “bright neon lights” all around and a view through a “window to another time.”
Ann fondly recalls the first moment when she realized that she was an artist. When she was only 5 years old, she discovered cans of paint at her grandmother’s house and “painted on every surface around me, even my face, arms, legs and clothes.” She jokes – although it was one of her happiest memories – her parents were less than thrilled about having to wash the paint off her.
She admits that she feels at home wherever she “can create” but that she could never imagine her creative process “without music and cats!” Her three cats: Murka, Marcel, and Barsik are her “little helpers” and encourage her to channel her passions into designing her “collection of cute animals” like llamas, koalas, and more.
Not only does Ann love creating designs with a retro flare, adorable animals, and beautifully detailed scenes, but she is also excited to experiment with geometric designs and art deco and she can’t wait to see how her style grows.
