Featured Artist Update: WalterOrlandi

This week’s returning Featured Artist Walter Orlandi has been a part of the DBH community since 2017 and continues to inspire us with his quirky unusual artwork. Each design makes it feel as if you’ve been teleported into an unexpected moment in time, whether it’s dancing with a cat or getting stuck in traffic with a medieval knight. Walter finds inspiration for his art everywhere and admits that “an interesting word or an object works to bring me a creative idea.” He recognizes that he must “take advantage of that moment of inspiration to create something great.” Teleport into greatness with WalterOrlandi’s store today!

Walter studied and developed his understanding of the arts at the National University of Visual Arts in Argentina. Still, the Argentinian artist reminiscences that even “as a child, I used to draw every single day, anything, anywhere” and that this passion only grew as he got older. He shares that he still loves “drawing and creating my art” and that he even finds himself working on creative projects in his free time, whether it’s mastering new mediums or studying the techniques used in popular animations and video games.

He used to favor “all sorts of cute and colorful 2D drawings” like animals or food. However, as his style evolved, he found himself gravitating towards his self-named “Surreal-Dark-Funny” style that is inspired by 3D models that he sculpts. Today, he is working on a project of 3D illustrations called "Working Days" and is excited to share this darker theme with his audience. He hopes that people recognize and appreciate the messages communicated in his designs. Nevertheless, the juxtaposition between his lighthearted colorful designs and his darker surrealist ones makes for a stimulating assortment of style and artwork.
