Featured Artist Update: Soltib

Gasp! Did you just see a koala wearing a Hawaiian t-shirt? Don’t worry, you’re not dreaming… you’ve just stumbled into the extraordinary world of this week’s Featured Artist Soltib. The returning Featured Artist shows off an array of astounding lifelike illustrations — designed with intricate detail and raw emotion — that leave you feeling as if you’ve somehow just bumped into a koala off the plane from his Hawaiian vacation. Soltib’s sophisticated designs are not only the chance to see reality with a twist, but the soulful expressions and emotional depth of each design makes you want to grab hold and never let go!

The longtime DBH artist Soltib, also known as Balazs Solti, is a 42-year-old illustrator living and working in Budapest, Hungary. Not only is Soltib a prolific and talented artist, but he also loves to play guitar, swim, and listen to music in his free time. Soltib confesses that although he joined DBH in 2011 and has been an artist for many years, it was only once he was able to “make a living out of it for more than a year” that he considered himself an artist. He understands how difficult creative professions can be but if he could give his past self any advice, it would be: “Don't worry everything will work out fine.”

In order to continue his dream of being a full-time artist, he jokes that he must follow a “strict daily routine” to maintain balance in his life and remain successful. Today, he is excited to study traditional painting techniques and he looks forward to experimenting with paints and a canvas to bring his visions to life.
