LauraNagel hails from Argentina and considers her style to be “whimsical surreal art” with a strong emphasis on storytelling. When she is not drawing, she loves to collect children’s books or watch popular animated shows, both which help inspire a style that is filled with the curious and the uncanny. She is currently working on a project entitled “Forgotten Fairytales” and she is looking forward to creating a children’s book of her own in the future.
She confesses, “I lose track of time when I'm doing an Illustration” and jokes that she must set several alarms to keep herself from staying lost in the creative process. To her, creativity is a “personal expression of the inner world” and her world is a place filled with unusual characters and even more unusual stories. In fact, she enjoys exploring the local neighborhoods in her city and says, “I pay attention to all the old houses and spaces where I can imagine a strange creature, acting out their own story.” She hopes to translate this story through her art and share these unique creatures with the world.
