Pameloo, or Pamela, shares that she is “an Asian-American illustrator from California currently residing in Brazil” who loves to read, play video games, and get inspired by her pet hedgehog, Kiwi. She graduated from an art school that emphasized “serious, realistic renderings” but she discovered she found joy from “creating silly, fun things that make me smile” instead.
She confesses, “I always had a lower technical skill compared to my peers, which was a great insecurity for many years.” However, today she has learned to appreciate her own style and to focus on what brings her happiness. She chooses to concentrate on the delightful quirky elements of animals and show off their “diverse, goofy, cute, and wholesome” qualities to brighten the world around her.
Still, she admits that because she loves creating so much, she often struggles with “burnout.” She says, “I can be really passionate about creating things and work nonstop until I fizzle out.” So, she has learned to prioritize listening to her needs and finding time to recharge after a big project. She reminds other artists “don't worry too much about finding a style. Just keep creating what you love and it will come with time.”
