Featured Artist: Kakel

This week’s Featured Artist Kakel is here and she’s bringing summer with her! If you’re looking for a perfect sunny style for a tropical getaway or a pop of color in your wardrobe, then Kakel’s bright designs will be sure to make your summer. Her fun geometric-inspired graphics are decorated in every color of the rainbow and will have everyone ready for a day in the sun this season!

Kakel, or Kathleen, is a 36-year-old architect and artist living in Canada. As an architect, she likes designing with strong lines and clean edges, but her inner artist loves to add a pop of color to brighten the look and feel of her work. She shares, “I've always enjoyed colors, I just have fun and explore different techniques.” She finds inspiration for her designs from travel, nature, books, and more. However, she recognizes that “creativity is all around us […] we just have to pay attention.”

She encourages other artists to “never stop creating” because “it is such a beautiful thing to have a creative mind.” Still, even with the passion to create, she understands that it can be difficult to find the time to draw. In fact, she is expecting a baby in the coming months and confesses, “these days, finding enough time is the biggest struggle.” Nonetheless, she considers that every project she works on is an accomplishment and represents “something special to me.” For her, art is a way of transforming moments from her history into something tangible that can be enjoyed forever.
