Darruda’s “fun and colorful” graphics are a glimpse into his vibrant and lively imagination. The fresh designs make you feel like a kid discovering a new world filled with hamburger planets, skateboarding pizza slices, and deceptive pink moons that look perfect for snow angels.
Although he is currently living in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, he confesses that it would be a dream for him to live in a place far from the “city chaos” where he can enjoy “freedom and fresh air.” However, even though he appreciates the quieter side of life, his bright designs surround you with colors, sounds, and energy. He jokes that the one thing you should know about him is that he’s a “fun guy that loves pasta and music” which is evident in his amusing designs.
Darruda’s greatest obstacle when creating art is trying to sort through the “mix of anxiety and a lot of ideas” that he experiences when starting a new project. He says that he is always working to “focus” and get a better grasp on how to move forward. He admits that his current art piece is always his “most important” because he is working to learn, improve, and perfect his art; his most recent piece is the best example of his growth. However — when it comes to his art — he believes that he must be sure “the story is well told” more than anything.
He is inspired by the American writer, Seth Godin, because of the author’s focus on “the value of humility, the connection, and the generosity between people” in his work. Darruda finds Godin to be a visionary and his message to be an important lesson for us all to learn. He shares that he’d like to continue to create and become “more and more connected to people and to the world” around him with his art.
