What’s After “Happily Ever After” for the Disney Princesses?

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is celebrating its 30th Anniversary! The DBH team will be marking the event by watching every Disney movie ever on the new Disney+ subscription and by strutting around (on what do you call 'em? Oh feet) humming “Under the Sea” all day.

But — while we’re under the sea devotin’ our time to floatin’ — we can’t help but also wonder what Ariel has been doing with her “happily ever after” all these years. Has it been endless dance parties, shoe shopping, pedicures, and living happily ever after with her perfect Prince Eric and his perfect pearly white teeth?

Well… Ariel always thought outside the box (or the sea), so she must have made some waves in the last 30 years! So, let’s head once upon a time to see what our favorite Disney Princesses, like Ariel, have been doing with their happily ever!

1)The Little Mermaid: Ariel

Ariel’s love for gadgets, gizmos, and thingamabobs led her to open her very own antique shop called “Treasures Untold” on the boardwalk. Her store has gotten so popular that tourists from all over the world travel there to buy rare hair straighteners named dinglehoppers or famous snarfblatts that make music.

Today, she’s expanded her business into a popular Ebay store as well. She always manages to find that long-lost favorite trinket for you, like the one you lost during that shipwreck all those years ago! What luck.

2) Beauty and the Beast: Belle

Unsurprisingly, Belle channeled her passion for books and stories into a career as a teacher! Her endless patience is perfect when it comes to teaching little kids (especially when they are behaving like beasts)!

Plus, her experience talking to inanimate objects like Mrs. Potts and Chip have set her up nicely to see the world through the eyes of a child. On those early Monday mornings — after a late night of grading papers — she still finds herself talking to her morning cup of coffee and begging for just one more caffeine kick! Mrs. Potts, Belle needs you!

3) Aladdin: Jasmine

Jasmine never let anything stop her from pursuing her dreams. After realizing that she could climb a palace wall like a pro, and then vault across a roof in just one try, she decided that she had a knack for overcoming any obstacle life threw at her.

So, after growing bored in her first career as a rock-climbing instructor, she put her competitive nature to work and won a gold medal in pole vaulting at the Olympic games! She’s not a prize to be won, but that won’t stop her from winning prizes like a boss!

4) Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Snow White

After cooking and cleaning for 7 dwarfs all day, Snow White realized that she should use her skills to build a thriving business instead! Now she’s the proud owner of a beautiful Bed & Breakfast named “Magic Mirror”!

Not only is she on her way to becoming a real estate tycoon, but she’s also buying and flipping houses or renting them on Airbnb! Her knack for convincing forest animals to help her cook and clean makes her job as easy as apple pie. All she has to do is whistle while she works (or convince that squirrel to wash the dishes) and she can have guests staying in her establishments nonstop!

5) Cinderella:

Cinderella started a successful clothing company named “Fairy Godmother” that always has the perfect size for every customer! Don’t worry if you’re more pumpkin-shaped than your peers because Fairy Godmother has the perfect look for you!

Plus, for every apparel item purchased, her company donates clothes to a person in need! Cinderella recognized that sometimes all you need is that perfect outfit — whether it’s for a job interview or a special occasion — and not everyone has the means or the access to it. She wants everyone to feel like they have a Fairy Godmother on their side. All of Cinderella’s employees (mostly plump little mice and adorable birds) love working for a company that gives back to the community!

Whether you’re more interested in Cinderella’s kindhearted clothing company (speaking of which… check out our Kindness Collection and help donate 10 meals for every item sold), or you’re more interested in a visit to Ariel’s antique shop, everyone can agree that the Disney Princesses have done well for themselves. No one can say that they’re just luscious locks in pretty dresses because these ladies are going places!
