Featured Artist: Donipacoceng
Donipacoceng’s eclectic style ranges from fun Halloween-inspired designs, to surreal visions of jellyfish swimming beside gnarled trees or beautifully intricate mandalas. He admits that his style is like coffee in that some people love it but that it may not be “tasty for those who can’t enjoy” the bold flavor.
Donipacoceng, or Pacoceng, lives with his mother and is “quite happy and comfortable living in this modest house” and does not need the hustle and bustle of a crazy life. He acknowledges that he doesn’t have a “special way” of balancing his personal and creative worlds, but that he always makes time to “work and fulfill my responsibilities as a person.”
He considers his greatest artistic achievement as the time when he received an order from a Slovakian grindcore band because it was “the first time I got an order from outside my country.” In fact, now he feels like there is no obstacle he can’t overcome when it comes to designing art. If he has his tools, then he is unstoppable. Nonetheless, he admits that sometimes his “mood” can be a hurdle but that he can defeat any negative thoughts when he is able to “joke with friends who are my soulmates.”
In the future, he hopes that — like a tree — his work “can grow” and “will be more colorful and lively” as his style changes. Donipacoceng may joke that — if we ever traded places with him — we’d learn that he is “poor LOL.” However, although Donipacoceng may feel poor, his diverse style is rich with detail and warmth and allows him to fully embrace the world around him. He shares that “for me work is worship” and he can’t help but feel that every pen stroke and every detail is an act of devotion.
Donipacoceng’s gracious view of the people around him means that he does not idolize anyone; he shares, “for me everyone has their respective abilities” and he fervently believes that everyone is a visionary in their own right.
